CRITERIA FOR NATIONAL SPOKESPERSONS AWARDS

The National Spokespersons Awards is the foremost recognition honouring, celebrating, and elevating the outstanding contributions of spokespersons across Nigeria.

The Awards honour individuals and organisations that dominantly led through all the levels of selection criteria based on the previous year’s activities.

Nominees must have proven their worth and made creative contributions as spokespersons. More importantly, they must provide proof of how their communication programmes achieved set outcomes and deepened relationships with target stakeholders.

ADJUDICATION CRITERIA

The following judging criteria for the National Spokesperson Awards are poised to ensure fairness, objectivity, and a thorough evaluation of each entry. All categories will be assessed by the Jury based on the following criteria:

Campaign objectives.
Channel selection.
Creativity and innovation
Engagement with Audience
Impact and effectiveness

Best Spokesperson of the Year

This is the highest individual honour recognizing the most outstanding spokesperson who has excelled in delivering clear, impactful, and transparent messages that resonate with diverse audiences and foster positive relationships with stakeholders.

Young Spokesperson of the Year Award

This honours a young, outstanding spokesperson under 30 with demonstrative achievements in managing relationships for their generation.

Distinguished Spokesperson in Political Communication Award

This award acknowledges an exceptional individual who has served as the mouthpiece of a political party, promoting political figures, national unity, and effectively managing stakeholder expectations.

Distinguished Corporate Spokesperson Award

This celebrates a spokesperson who has effectively represented and communicated with both internal and external audiences on behalf of a company or organization.

Outstanding Military Spokesperson – Military Sector

This honours a spokesperson with proven skills in leveraging communications strategies and building relationships with relevant stakeholders towards a better-informed citizenry on military operations in Nigeria.

Outstanding Military Spokesperson – Military Sector

Outstanding Security Spokesperson – Non-military – Security Service

This award recognizes a spokesperson with proven exceptional skills in deploying communication strategies and building relationships with relevant stakeholders towards a better-informed citizenry on security operations.

Spokesperson Gold Award– Public Sector (Federal)

This celebrates a spokesperson who has demonstrated exceptional skills in deploying communication strategies to build mutual understanding, consent, and support for state government programmes among stakeholders.

Spokesperson Gold Award – Public Sector (State)

This celebrates a spokesperson who has demonstrated exceptional skills in deploying communication strategies to build mutual understanding, consent, and support for federal government programmes among stakeholders.

Outstanding Spokesperson Award – Executive Arm of Government

The award rewards a spokesperson who has demonstrated exceptional skills in managing, coordinating, and implementing communication campaigns and building relationships between the executive arm of government and stakeholders.

Distinguished Spokesperson Award – Legislature

Distinguished Spokesperson Award – Civil Society Organisation

This recognizes an individual who has effectively advocated for social or humanitarian causes and effectively raised awareness, which has had significant social impacts.

Most Innovative Spokesperson Award – Diplomatic Service/ Multilateral / multinational

This award recognizes a spokesperson with exceptional skills in coordinating communication campaigns promoting bilateral, multilateral, or multinational activities.

Distinguished Spokesperson in Crisis Communication Award

This honors a spokesperson who has demonstrated exceptional skills in managing and communicating during challenging situations or a crisis.

Distinguished Spokesperson in Technology Award

This award celebrates a spokesperson in the technology space who has effectively deployed communication strategies to manage relationships and simplify complex information for the public.

Distinguished Spokesperson in Environmental Sustainability Award

This category acknowledges an individual who has been a strong spokesperson on environmental or ecological issues and communicated effectively in this regard.

Distinguished Spokesperson in Financial Services Award

Celebrates a spokesperson in the financial services sector who has effectively deployed communication strategies to manage relationships and convey the value of financial services to stakeholders.

Excellence in Regulatory Compliance Award

The awards acknowledge regulatory compliance by maintaining the highest standard in ethical business practices.

Excellence in Corporate Governance Award

The award recognizes a company’s transparency in dealings with shareholders, employees, customers, and the public by providing timely and accurate information about financial performance, business strategy, and risks.

Excellence in International Relations Award

The award recognizes an organisation with the most coordinated and effective campaigns that improve bilateral, multilateral, or multinational activities.
